Country Head – Banking & Financial Services

About the role

The institution seeks an experienced, commercially driven Country Head to lead its banking operations in the Union of the Comoros. This senior executive will shape growth strategy across SME, corporate, retail and digital banking, and will be accountable for overall business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Protect and extend market position by driving sustainable growth in SME, corporate and retail segments.
• Grow the lending portfolio while maintaining strong credit discipline, risk management and asset quality.
• Enhance deposit mobilisation and optimise balance‑sheet utilisation.
• Expand diaspora banking, remittance services and digital banking channels.
• Develop market leadership in trade finance, logistics financing, government banking, correspondent banking and digital financial services.
• Build, lead and develop a high‑performing executive team focused on commercial growth and operational excellence.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with regulators, government bodies, corporate clients and strategic partners.
• Provide strategic leadership and communicate effectively with board members and senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• 10‑15 years of experience in banking or financial services.
• Minimum 5 years in a P&L‑owning executive role such as CEO, Deputy CEO, Managing Director or Country Head.
• Proven track record of growing loans, deposits, revenue and profitability.
• Strong expertise in credit management, lending strategy and asset quality.
• Demonstrated experience in digital banking transformation.
• Board‑level communication skills and regulatory relationship management experience.
• Experience leading high‑performing leadership teams in emerging or resource‑conscious markets.
