About the role
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) seeks a Communications Lead on a consultancy basis to shape the digital visibility and engagement of the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) LMMA Alliance. The role will create a community‑centred communications function that raises the Alliance’s profile among coastal communities, partners and donors.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy and editorial approach.
- Strengthen the Alliance’s visual identity and brand guidelines.
- Design, build and launch the Alliance’s website.
- Produce and curate content, storytelling pieces and multimedia assets.
- Manage LinkedIn and other agreed social‑media channels.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day communications activities and act as the primary communications focal point.
Required profile
- Proven experience in communications, digital media and stakeholder engagement, preferably in environmental or community contexts.
- Ability to work across multiple countries in the WIO region (Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Comoros, Mozambique).
- Strong written and oral English communication skills.
Required skills
- Website development and content management.
- Social‑media platform management (e.g., LinkedIn).
