Country Head – Union of the Comoros

About the role

A leading financial institution is seeking an experienced, commercially‑driven Country Head to lead its operations in the Union of the Comoros. This senior executive will shape the bank’s growth strategy across SME, corporate, retail and digital banking, driving loan expansion, deposit mobilisation and digital adoption.

Key responsibilities

• Protect and extend market position by delivering sustainable growth in SME, corporate and retail segments.
• Grow the lending portfolio while maintaining strong credit discipline, risk standards and asset quality.
• Enhance deposit mobilisation and optimise balance‑sheet utilisation.
• Expand diaspora banking, remittance services and digital channels.
• Develop leadership in trade finance, logistics financing, government and correspondent banking.
• Build, lead and develop a high‑performing executive team focused on commercial growth and operational excellence.
• Maintain strong relationships with regulators, government bodies, corporate clients and strategic partners.
• Provide strategic leadership and communicate effectively with the board and senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• 10‑15 years of experience in banking or financial services.
• Minimum 5 years in a P&L‑owning executive role such as CEO, Deputy CEO, Managing Director or Country Head.
• Proven track record of growing loans, deposits, revenue and profitability.
• Strong expertise in credit management, lending strategy and asset‑quality maintenance.
• Demonstrated experience leading digital banking transformation.
• Excellent board‑level communication and regulatory relationship skills.
• Experience building and leading high‑performing leadership teams.
• Background in emerging or resource‑conscious banking markets.
