WASH Officer (Level 2) – Fixed Term

About the role

The WASH Officer (Level 2) will support UNICEF’s Country Programme in the Comoros, where water, sanitation and hygiene interventions are a core component of our work. Reporting to the Health Specialist, the officer will provide technical, operational and administrative assistance across the full WASH programme cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and operational support for the design, planning and implementation of WASH activities.
• Prepare, manage and execute administrative tasks related to WASH project delivery.
• Monitor and report on WASH results, ensuring compliance with UNICEF standards and procedures.
• Coordinate with government agencies, partners and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.
• Contribute to humanitarian WASH preparedness and response activities.
• Promote innovation, learning and capacity‑building initiatives to improve programme effectiveness and sustainability.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Engineering, Public Health, Social Sciences, Behavior Change Communication or a related technical field (or a first‑level degree plus two additional years of relevant experience).
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in WASH, climate change, programme development, humanitarian preparedness, or related areas.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural, humanitarian environment.
