Senior Gender and Inclusive Transport Expert

About the role

NTU International is looking for a Senior Gender and Inclusive Transport Expert to support the EU‑funded Technical Assistance to ECOWAS in Transport Governance. The role will focus on embedding gender equality and social inclusion into transport policies, infrastructure planning and regional connectivity across West Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate gender equality and social inclusion considerations into transport policies, corridor governance and infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical assistance on gender‑responsive transport planning, inclusive mobility approaches and climate‑resilient infrastructure.
• Conduct gender and social inclusion assessments for transport and connectivity initiatives.
• Develop inclusive transport policies, action plans and operational frameworks.
• Advise ECOWAS institutions and Member States on gender mainstreaming and inclusive governance mechanisms.
• Facilitate the participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in transport decision‑making.
• Prepare social analyses, policy recommendations, safeguard documentation and inclusion strategies.
• Coordinate with public institutions, civil society, development partners and regional stakeholders.
• Deliver workshops, consultations and capacity‑building activities on gender equality and inclusive transport.
• Support monitoring, reporting and evaluation of gender mainstreaming activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in gender studies, social sciences, transport planning, development studies, sociology, public policy or a related field.
• At least 10 years of professional experience in gender equality, social inclusion, transport governance or development programmes.
• Minimum 7 years of experience specifically in gender mainstreaming, inclusive infrastructure or social inclusion initiatives.
• Proven experience working on infrastructure, transport or social development projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience with international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
