Remote Medical Coder (US/UK Hospital Coding)

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The role involves reviewing complex patient records and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes in compliance with US or UK standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records, including operative reports and discharge summaries.
• Assign appropriate ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4, or SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure coding complies with federal, state, NHS, and payer guidelines for accurate revenue cycle management.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians, and resolve coding errors to prevent claim denials.
• Maintain data integrity through regular audits and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer, high‑speed internet, and backup power supply; a quiet, HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.
